Rewarding Multi-Province Jackpot Launched by IWG Across Canadian Lotteries

Instant Win Gaming (IWG), one of the leading online casino software providers in the world, has agreed to a new partnership with several of Canada’s top lottery corporations. This new deal will bring progressive jackpot games and new lottery games to Canada’s biggest provinces.

What Does IWG's New Partnership Mean for Canadian Provinces?

IWG is a top supplier of eInstant games to the North American Association of State & Provincial Lotteries (NASPL) and World Lottery Association (WLA) members. Among these members are some of Canada’s biggest state-run lottery companies.

This partnership will see IWG’s new Turbo Jackpots (Cagnotte Turbo in French) games come to Atlantic Lottery Corporation (ALC), British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC), Ontario Lottery & Gaming Corporation (OLG) and Loto-Québec platforms.

Here’s a bit more information on progressive jackpot games in the provinces

Turbo Jackpots are progressive jackpot games. These games are the first-ever eInstant progressive jackpot games in the history of Canadian lottery corporations. Players in several different provinces can now contribute to the same pool and vie for the same jackpot playing IWG Turbo Jackpot games.

The nine Canadian provinces affected by this deal are British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, and Saskatchewan.

Rhydian Fisher, CEO at IWG, said of this new partnership that “Introducing Turbo Jackpots, the first multi-provincial eInstant progressive jackpot, is a major milestone for Canada’s iLottery market.

As we have seen in the U.S. with Mega Money Jackpots, multi-lottery jackpot pools have the capability to deliver record prize payouts for eInstants and deliver increased engagement with players. Credit to our long-term partners Atlantic Lottery, British Columbia Lottery Corporation, Ontario Lottery & Gaming and Loto-Québec on embracing this new jackpot experience, which we’re sure will become a big hit with their player base.

The Latest Progressive Jackpot Games to Reach Canada

This new partnership could signal larger trends in Canadian gaming. We’ll cover that later though. For now, let’s focus on the new games that players in BC, MB, NB, NL, NS, ON, PE, QC, and SK can play.

Cash Blast (Explosion d’argent réaction in French) is the marquee title now available in those nine provinces. This game features a simple 3×5 layout and offers up to a 10,000x jackpot for lucky players.

Turbo Jackpot games are similar to the Mega Money Jackpots that IWG launched in the United States last year. These games have been a huge hit and have been adopted by multiple US lotteries, including the Kentucky, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, and Virginia state lotteries.

Part of the reason Mega Money Jackpots have been so popular in the US is because of how much they have already paid out to American players. According to IWG’s press release announcing its Canadian lottery partnership, a lucky Virginia Lottery player won US$5.8 million playing Mega Money Jackpots.

It’s too early to say whether any Canadian players will bring home such a large jackpot, but the chances are higher now that Turbo Jackpot games are available in the Great White North.

What This Means for Canadian Casino Players Going Forward

The slate of new Turbo Jackpot games in Canada will get all the headlines, but this new partnership also tells us a lot about the gaming community in Canada and in North America as a whole. To understand these trends, we have to look at a few things that have happened recently.

First, IWG received a massive investment from international technology company Allwyn just a few days before this new Canadian lottery partnership was announced. Prior to buying into IWG, Allwyn had only been involved with one lottery organisation, the Illinois State Lottery. IWG, meanwhile, supplies games to over two dozen NASPL and WLA lotteries worldwide.

This deal also comes just months after IWG renegotiated its deal with the ALC to subcontract games to the ALC. IWG and ALC agreed to new terms, which saw IWG become a direct supplier of eInstant games instead of playing a more hands-on role as a subcontractor.

IWG renegotiating its deal with the ALC, Allwyn’s investment in IWG, and IWG’s new partnership with the ALC, BCLC, OLG, and Loto-Québec tells us three things.

One, big technology firms see promise in the eInstant games market. Two, Allwyn will use its new investment in IWG to partner with lottery companies instead of partnering directly, as it did with the Illinois State Lottery. Finally, this partnership shows us that Canadian lottery companies are seeking more uniformity in the online gaming market.

Something positive for Canadian players in the future

Right now, Canada’s iGaming market is heavily segmented and has different regulations due to the laws pertaining to each province. This partnership could be a sign that the provinces are willing to work together to establish a national online gaming framework.
