How Playtech Transforms AMC’s The Walking Dead into an Unforgettable Gaming Experience

There’s a reason that movies and TV shows centered around zombies are so popular. First of all, the idea of the undead is just terrifying! Imagine your mother-in-law rising from the grave to give you even more trouble than she ever did when she still drew breath? Then it’s the whole idea of the world having fallen to its knees, forcing us to come face to face with our own primal survival instincts. It’s an existential crisis, really!

With its stellar soundtrack and chillingly memorable moments, AMC’s ‘The Walking Dead’ is the epitome of zombie goodness. And now, fans of the show (myself included) can experience the apocalypse across the reels of the brand new branded game from Playtech.

Gore and Glory: What Makes The Walking Dead Slot Great?

While the tone and setting of The Walking Dead does an excellent job of showcasing the harsh realities of “…survival in a world devastated by the undead”, Playtech has done a phenomenal job of injecting sheer excitement and adrenaline into this title. As a fan of the series, I was hooked. And just as I might have thought, ‘just one more episode’, I would think ‘just one more spin!’

For starters, the game features a number of familiar characters on the reels, like Michonne and Rick Grimes. These prominent characters are who you’re going to see most of on the reels – along with the traditional casino 10’s, Jacks, Queens, and Kings. The van is the Scatter, and then zombie hands are the wilds. Whenever you win, you’ll get a free spin. The reels will shift over to the right, and a new reel will spin and come in play. I loved this feature, thanks to the winning opportunities it seemingly pulled right out of the ground!

When you see three vans (scatters) on the screen, that’s when the bonus feature is triggered. This one is among the better ones I’ve seen in online casino games. You’ll watch the van drive down the road and then be presented with a number of nastyt-looking zombie heads. From there, you’ll get a number of free spins (usually 10). One of the cool features here is when you get a full-reel zombie. He’ll stick around for a few spins and help you get some big wins, and it won’t cost your free spins – or your neck! After the free spins, it’s back to the regular rounds.

Playtech & AMC Make Magic with The Walking Dead Online Slot

The Walking Dead slot is one of the better spinners I’ve played, but do bear in mind that I am a huge fan of the show, so it’s impossible not to be even a little biased. Even if you’re not (which would be a pity, because you’re missing out) you’ll find yourself enjoying this game.

One of the reasons it’s so much fun to play is because AMC and Playtech really worked hand-in-hand on this game. This was clearly not just a matter of slapping a few faces on the reels to make some feeble connection from the show to the slot; the game is incredibly immersive, and captivates your attention right from the get-go. From the intro to the transitions to the music, it all relates back to The Walking Dead. And, just like in the show, it’s going to keep you on the edge of your seat and possibly give you the chills (in the way that zombies always do) as you spin.

Take A Spin With The Walking Dead

If Playtech and AMC’s collaborative online slot is anything to go by, I certainly hope there will be more branded online slots from them to look forward to in the future – even if just a continuation of this one. Perhaps we could see features like Michonne whipping out her famous katana and slashing the reels. Perhaps Negan could come in and slam some wins onto the paylines with his beloved baseball bat, Lucille. Oof, just that idea alone gives me goosebumps!
